I drove from Morgantown, West Virginia to New Mexico in two days. From there to Las Vegas took two leisure driving days with Heavy D. and Maria. I got to see the Grand Canyon and some of the Navajo Reservation. Went to Las Vegas, where my skate journey began. There are so many parks there, you could skate for weeks on new terrain.
Wheres the skate park? If you see this sign in the Jicarillo Navajo reservation in Arizona you may skate at the little area I found on my way through. Ask for Hondo, a long haired native boy who skated well for only having a concrete flat with beat up wooden ramps and a rail and parking curb to grind.
From Las Vegas, we drove west to Primm, a strange gambling town on the California border. We got to Baker, California that night and slept out in the Mojave Land Preserve. That night we saw the full moon eclipse just before dawn. That day we made it to Kelso sand dunes, and stayed there with two Canadians. The next morning after coffee we continued through the desert to twenty Nine Palms, which is right below Joshua Tree National Park. We entered the park after eating Mexican, and drove up to find a camp spot at Skull Rock Campground. We hiked Ryan's Peak the following day, snow falling, and decided to go for L.A. since the weather was bad for camping. We arrived in Los Feliz, L.A. after dark in a light rainstorm. There we stayed for a week, and got going up the Pacific coast. We stopped at Big Sur, a beautiful spot on Earth where the redwoods grow. After a night of camping, we ended up in San Francisco, stayed with a friend, and ran around like there was no tomorrow.
I stayed the winter at Truckee, California, by Lake Tahoe. I worked in a restaurant at Squaw Valley till the spring rolled around, then started travelling again. My brother flew into Reno, NV, and after a week or so at Tahoe we drove to Ashland, Oregon. From there we did a hot springs tour, which was so nice. We ended up in Eugene, and after seeing that we drove down the coast and saw the redwoods. In Mendocino County we visited some friends from W.V., then continued down to Santa Rosa, where we skated at a very tagged up park. On the way to San Fransisco we stopped at Point Reyes Nat'l Seashore, a very windy point on the Pacific. Just before the city we found Mt. Tamalpais State Park, a mountain rising up from the ocean. My brother flew home from San Fran, and I went to Santa Cruz. There I met Noah, and we drove to Las Vegas, where we met Trey. The three of us drove back to California, and eventually up to Eugene. We all 3 went to the Oregon Country Fair, and afterwards drove to Wyoming. There my friend got married in Jackson and we visited Yellowstone National Park. After that we sped home to W.V. I was home only for a month and then set out for Montana. Along the way we saw the Badlands, the Black Hills, and a whole lot of open space. We picked up a friend in Bozeman, M.T., and from there chilled a whole week in Ennis. Fishing and chilling, we enjoyed the Big Sky Country. Afterwards, we swung through Jackson again, then down to Colorado. On the way through Wyoming we saw the Wind River Canyon, and the Tensleep Canyon in the Big Horns. Both of these river valleys' were surrounded by cliffs and the road followed the rivers. Once in Colorado we stopped in at Ft. Collins, then to Boulder. After a few days chilling with some old buddies, we drove straight through to W.V., where I am now.
