5 K

I am running a 5 k, in Davis, in 45 minutes.  Coffee and biscotti and some steamed asparagus along with stretching and spring water have me ready.  I will let you know where I placed among the hundreds of runners.  Smoking slows us down, but in anything in life, mind over matter.  hA Ha, I wont be saying that when Im wheezing on the side of the course.  Not, Im in shape, but will be only stronger after running my a$$ off.  Chill out, lo/ve one another.

Work

IN WoRk MODE; hiking in the forest afterwards.  Seeing the fall colors...

See to it to skate.    Being out here in the mountains makes a skater suck.  We need a skate park.  A new layer of blacktop on Douglas Rd. will be shredded.  Allow the weather to pass, and enjoy the sun when it shines!

Montana

So I now have pictures of my adventures in Montana.  We skated in Bozeman, which was ok.  It had a bowl that opened into the rest of the park, a pyramid and a really fun little beginner section.

We camped on the Madison River for a week...

A fire started while we were in Jackson Wyoming.
Jake points out the devastating fire from his yard.

In Riverton Wyoming I found some skating to be done.

After that we swung through Thermopolis Wyoming, where we soaked in a hot pool.  The bath house was free for a twenty minute soak.  The wind river canyon was so beautiful, along with the Tensleep Canyon in the Bighorn mountains.
After a few days with visiting family, we drove down to Fort Collins, Colorado.

This park in Fort Collins had good art.

Where Was I?

Well, lets see, after Ennis we cruised to West Yellowstone, and I found a cool bike shop called, Free Wheel, Free Heel. It was a bike shop/x-c shop, run  by a really nice lady Kate.  I got espresso there before we drove up into Yellowstone.  The next morning I saw beaver, fish jumping, and three moose as the sun rose, burning off the frost that lay in the valley where the river flowed under the mist.  After packing the car to the brim, we split for Jackson, driving from Montana into Idaho.  Along the western side of the Tetons we skooted, and climbed the pass over to Jackson.  Upon arriving, we met up with an old friend by the name of Fiorini, who took us hiking and fishing on  the Gros Ventre River.  The next day, along with Jake, we took a hike near Death Canyon, and jumped into a lake that was nestled in a small valley below the Tetons.  From there we could watch the smoke rising from the fire that had started just the day before.  After the hike, we went back to Jackson, where we ate dinner and watched the wildfire smoke billow up from behind the ridge that gaurds town.  In the morning the fire was still raging, but we had to take off, leaving behind the blaze, only to see about three other wildfires across the state.  Today we are at my gerandmas, where we dug post holes and set fence posts, and now relaxing before steaks.  Yum

Big Sky

We checked out the Bozeman skatepark yesterday.  It was an older park with nice bowls and a beginner section and some street.  I will have pics of it later...  Afterwards we drove up the Gallatin River to Big Sky, a ski community at the top of the mountain.  Smoke filled the air from the wildfires in the area.  There were a lot of eyesores, like condos and apartments, but the overall beauty of the craggy mountains compensated for that.  On the way back down we stopped along the Gallatin, and Jeff pulled out a nice rainbow.  Once we returned to camp, Tracy made soup, which is still in the pot riding around with us.  Today we are heading to West yellowstone, where we will check out the park for our last day.

Ennis Montana, Dental Floss Tycoon

After camping at the edge of the Badlands, we arrived in the Black Hills of South Dakota,  where we stoppped along a creek that was as cold as snow.
Then we ended up in Wyoming, to visit family, and made our way to Bozeman the next day.  Up through Crow country and over the Bighorn and Little Bighorn to Billings.  From there we followed the Yellowstone River all the was to westerrn MT.  In Bozeman we picked up Doc, and proceeded to the little river town of Ennis.  After we went into a dark bar called the catspaw, that is.  We made camp, and were surprised by a windy hail storm that drove us to walk across the Madison River and into town, where we got a beer by candlelight as the power had been knocked out.
Th next morning we got situated and then drove back to Bozeman to pick up cuz and his girl.  After a quick stop for smokes and beer, we got back to "roughing it" on the river; eating steak, drinking coffee, and relaxing along the big Madison.
That night Doc was awoken by a skunk trying to get into the garbage.  After throwing a rock at it, and waking everyone up in the process, he potato sac hopped in his sleeping bag to a safer spot between our tents to sleep.
We fished the braids the next day, which is a spot where the river makes many channels and islands and also good water to fish.  We ate one last night, but do not want to brag.  Apple and onion trout with rice and beans is roughin' it.
Today we awoke with no problem from the critters, and had our coffee together, then the guys left to fish and I did some yoga on the rivers edge, under another sunny big sky.
